Powers: Shadowcat possesses the ability to pass through solid matter by passing her atoms through the spaces between the atoms of the object through which she is moving. In this way she and the object through which she is passing can temporarily merge without interacting, and each is unharmed when Shadowcat has finished passing through the object. This process is called "phasing." When Shadowcat is phasing, she is, for all intents ad purposes, intangible. Hence, when attacked, she can shift into a "phasing" state (even if she is not at the time passing through an object) so as to allow oncoming projectiles or energy blasts to pass through her harmlessly. While phasing Shadowcat is still vulnerable to psionic or mystical attack, however.
Shadowcat passes through objects at the same rate of speed at which she is moving before she "enters" it. Since she is unable to breathe while "inside" an object, she can only continuously phase through solid objects (as when she travels underground) as long as she can hold her breath.
Shadowcat can phase through any material object, even living people. When she phases through an object with an electrical system, the process disrupts the system's workings. She has trained herself to go automatically, by reflex, into a phasing state at any indication of danger, such as a loud noise like a gunshot, in order to protect herself.

Personality: Katherine is a very fun, outgoing type of person. She is always full of energy, and nothing can get in her way, literally. When it comes to her friends, Kit is always there for them for comfort or to try and make them laugh. Kitty is also very book smart, doesn't show it most of the time when she is around her friends, but when in class, you can tell how much of a book worm she is.
History: Professor Charles Xavier had came to Katherine Pryde's home three years ago when she was only 14 and her mutation had just manifested. Katherine's parents had literally made her feel like an outcast, and disowned her from hteir family. From that day that Xavier visited Kitty in her home, she realized that there were people who cared. She left her parents house with Charles and went to go live at the Insitute for Gifted Youngsters along wwith many other mutants. By the time her second year at the mansion came around, things in the human world changed. It was humans against mutants in a fight that had no reason. The insitute was siezed, but Kat made it out of there along with a few other mutants safely. It is unsaid on were the other exscaped mutants went off too, but when the fight was over and all but one was returned back to its orginal self, The exscaped mutants along with the captured all returned back to the Institute. Kitty is now going on her third year at the school and is in training along with Bobby, Rogue, and Colossus to join the X-Men team.
Sample RP: It was a little after 12 on a saturday afternoon. There was a scheduled danger Room training session, and Kitty was running late. She had over slept and was very slow with gettin out of bed when she had woke up. She had enough time to gte herself into her training uniform, which consited of black leather with an X on each side of the collar and a few lines of pink outlined some areas of the suit.
Kitty began to run through the halls phasing through people who got in her way of heading downstairs. [glow=purple,2,300]"Move it people!! Can't you see I'mma in a hurry?!"[/glow] she yelled as she phased through two more younger students walking down the hall. Kit came skidding to a hault when she reached the hidden elevator doors that would lead to thebasement where the hangar, Cerebro, the Med-Lab, and the Danger Room were held.
SHe tapped her foot lightly on the floor of the elevator as it proceeded to make its way down. Once it came to a stop, being as impatient as she was, Kitty phased through the elevator doors before they even had the chance to open. She then ran down the hall, foot steps echoing, until she reached the Danger Room. A red light above the doors was flashing, indicating that a session was already in progress. She took a deep breath before phasing through those sets of doors to find herself almost being knocked out by a flying object. She leaped towards her left to dodge the object to find herself laying at Storms feet.
[glow=purple,2,300]"Oopps..Sorry for being late Storm..."[/glow] she said trying to give Ororo her best puppy dog face.
