Personality:
Yuriko believes in honor. She will not strike an opponent who is not ready to do battle in most cases. When she fights someone she wants them to start off at their best, otherwise it would be unfair and victory would be pointless. She is a very exotic woman who intrigues many men. People can't help but think about her in good ways or bad ways. A very dignified being, an intelligent woman, she tends to hold grudges quite willingly – especially against those that had harmed the ones that were close to her, such as Wolverine.
History:
Growing up in Japan, Yuriko Oyama was born to the infamous Dark Lord Wind. Now, her father was quite a complicated man, who had learned to hate post-war Japanese civilization. Her brothers were killed in reaction to contributing to their father’s services, which scarred Yuriko completely. They had died because they were forced to partake with their father’s army antics. Yuriko Oyama was mad at her father for allowing his only sons to be in his war involvement, and as soon as she developed into a young woman – she began to take interest in the men. His name was Kira, and the term ‘love at first sight’ applies quite appropriately in this scenario. He was a charming man, with a sense of gentleness about him – Yuriko was positive that they were destined to become married and have a family, and that’s when disaster struck. Every single time something good would seem to be looking her way, it quickly turned the other way and laughed in Yuriko’s face.
The young love-struck woman soon found out that her father had recruited Kira into his private army. He was most likely going to be killed or hurt just like her brothers had been, and this was a complete setback to their plans to become married and start a family and move away. The hate for her father quickly grew with angst, and anguish. Thoughts of vengeance quickly infiltrated her mind, dreams of him dying, of being tortured were never too far away. Why did he have to take away everyone so close to her? Lord Dark Wind was ruining every single good aspect of her life, and quite frankly – she was becoming sick of it. So, one morning, while her father was residing on his private island, Yuriko followed him there, and killed him in his sleep. The ironic thing was that he taught her how to use a weapon. Nice going, dad.
Satisfied, happy for once in her life, Yuriko left her father on the island to rot, and then left towards the army camp to speak with Kira, so that they could move away and start a family, like they had always told each other they would until he had been drafted. Well, the opportunity of disaster struck again, and upon arriving to the army camp, Yuriko discovers that word had already been sent about the death of Lord Dark Wind. When entering the tent that had been assigned to Kira, she found only two things – the corpse of Kira, blood spilling from his body. It was obviously a suicide because the second thing that was present was a goodbye letter, stating about how devastated he had become because of the death of Lord Dark Wind. Whereas Yuriko might not have cared for her father at all – apparently there were actually those who loved him. Including the man that she loved the most.
Leaving Japan behind, Yuriko travels to America, wanting to leave the past behind, to make a new life, ultimately to forget about the painful memories that continuously haunt her at any chance. Devastated by Kira’s death, blaming herself on almost everything that happened in her past, there was really nothing that she could do about the things that followed her around like her own shadow. Roaming around America aimlessly, not really knowing what this country was all about, she was in awe that almost no one had heard of the powerful Lord Dark Wind, and when she claimed to be the daughter of the man, the Americans simply laughed and gave her awkward stares. And then, just when she believed that things couldn’t get any more interesting – life proved itself to have it’s own little twists and turns as well; once again.
Walking along the streets, a man presents himself as William Stryker; he says that he could offer her more than anything she could have ever imagined. When she refuses it, Yuriko begins to walk away from it, but soon finds that this man doesn’t exactly take ‘no’ for an answer, and there were two choices he was actually giving her. Choice A: Where she could go with him out of her will and obedience. Or, there was Choice B: Where she could try to walk away, and be drugged, tortured or dragged forcefully to where he wanted to take her. After a bit of negotiation, she made the wrong decision, Choice B. So, she was drugged and dragged back to a lair of some sort. And so the beginning of the capture and drastic changes of Yuriko – oh, well, at least life wouldn’t be so boring. Not in the least.
William Stryker placed the young woman in a program vaguely labeled ‘Weapon X’. And this was something that changed her life forever – for better or for worse, she hasn’t exactly found out yet. Her bones were laced with Adamantium, something that she was quite familiar with – her father had used it somehow once or twice on injured assassins. This was quite different though, her whole skeletal system was changed, filled and covered with Adamantium, which also caused her to have claws protrude out of her fingers on command – she discovered exactly how painful the first time of extracting the claws were. She was mutated, they said, and this was quite apparent with nine inch claws extorted on will from her fingertips. Seeing what a creation he had made, Stryker soon made Yuriko his aid – the dubbed name of ‘Lady Deathstrike’ being given to her.
To the present, Deathstrike – now her common name instead of her ‘real’ name – continues to work on the anti-mutant crusades with Stryker, against her will, occasionally even having to be under some sort of trance or mind-control to convince her to go through with Stryker’s orders. Currently, she is still serving as his aid, preparing for the coming crusades – other information is currently uncovered, although the whereabouts of the creature is most likely out on a crusade or finding out more information for Stryker.
She has most recently been seen still at Alkili Lake, Waiting for her commander to show her where to go.
