I took a bit of the movie and a bit of Ultimate comics. One of the big changes I made from the movie is the inclusion of web shooters. I don’t like Peter having organic webbing in his wrists, so I took them out. Also... There's a limit to how long posts can be. So I had to split this in half. The history and Sample Post will be posted in this same thread.
Character Basics:
Name: Peter Benjamin Parker
Alias: Spider-Man
Age: 19
Sex: Male
Allegiance: He’s a good guy.
Powers: As much detail as possible you say? Well… if you insist:
Strengths: When Peter Parker was bit by the genetically enhanced spider, he began to develop a wide array of super powers that made him something akin to a human spider. His powers include increased strength, reflexes and agility; the ability to stick to walls; and a sixth sense that warns him of danger. Many of his abilities are attributed to Peter’s fantastically enhanced metabolic efficiency. While a normal human metabolizes around 25% of what they eat, Peter metabolizes an amazing 60%, giving him much more energy, and an increased muscle structure and nervous system.
First, Peter’s musculature has been augmented to a degree that gives him the proportionate strength of a spider. This means that he is capable of lifting upwards of ten tons normally. However, like the average human, under times of extreme stress or danger Peter is able to break this upper limit, lifting as much as fifteen tons (sometimes, on very rare occasions, even more). As a side effect of his increased strength, Peter can jump distances far beyond what would be considered normal, or even above average. From a stand still position, Peter can spring three stories straight up, or jump the length of a city block. With a running start to gain momentum, Peter can jump close to seven stories high, and is capable of clearing four city blocks.
While his musculature is certainly increased, it by no means makes him bulky. In fact, his tendons are at least two times more elastic than a normal human, making him capable of doing twists, flips and dodges with a grace that would not only put gold metal Olympic gymnasts to shame, but also make other superhumanly agile people look clumsy. In terms of acrobatics and agility, Spider-Man is truly unequaled. Not only that, but his nervous systems have also been severely increased by the spider bite. They were augmented to the point where Peter’s reflexes function up to forty times faster than the average human. This makes him capable of reacting with lightening quick speeds, and makes dodging simple and effective.
His body is slightly denser then a normal human, making him more difficult to hurt. Bullets still easily pierce his skin, as do most other lethal weapons; however, he is more resistant to harm then a non-powered human. He also has increased regenerative capabilities thanks to his enhanced metabolism; while not a true healing factor, Peter does heal from wounds and illnesses much faster then most humans. Thanks to his augmented healing, Peter is also not nearly as susceptible to diseases as normal, and therefore gets sick much less then usual. He also has an increased level of stamina and endurance, making him capable of ‘going the extra mile’ as it were.
Through the use of a biostatic field that only he can control, Peter is able to increase the attraction of molecules between him and other objects. This allows him to ‘cling’ to other surfaces with remarkable ease, making him quite the wall-crawler. The field is extremely powerful, and allows Peter to cling to absolutely any surface, no matter how smooth or slippery it may be. The strength of his field is demonstrated in how difficult it is to remove him from an object. In fact, it is theorized that Peter cannot be removed from something he is clinging to unless he himself allows it to happen. Even if a super strong person were to attempt to pull Peter off of a wall, chances are the wall would break apart under stress. And if someone like the Hulk were to pull Peter from something Peter didn’t have the strength to break, chances are the Hulk would rip Peter’s arms and legs clean off before he pulled him from his perch. While Peter can cling to surfaces with any part of his body, the field is especially centered around his hands and feet.
Finally, and possibly most spectacularly of all, Peter has a specialized sixth or ‘spider’ sense that warns him of impending danger. Whenever Peter is in a dangerous situation, he will get a tingling sensation at the back of his skull to warn him of it. The spider sense fires off no matter what kind of danger Peter is in, whether that be a bullet, an adamantium octopus arm, a collapsing ceiling, or poison. In fact, it also goes off if his secret identity is in danger of being jeopardized. The intensity of the tingling sensation he feels is directly proportionate to the intensity of the danger, letting Peter know how much trouble he’s in before it even happens. When coupled with his amazing agility and unearthly reflexes, Peter usually dodges incoming attacks before they are even launched at him. He is capable, through the use of those three skills, to dodge machine gun fire so long as he is far enough away. He would be capable of fighting and dodging while completely blind by relying solely on this amazing sense to get him out of the situation. He has also trained himself to react instantly to his spider sense, moving out of harms way the instant that he feels the tingling sensation.
Weakness: While his powers are certainly something to be reckoned with, Peter does have a fair few weaknesses that can be exploited in battle. His ability to cling to surfaces only works so long as he is conscious, so while it is impossible to remove an awake Peter from something, once you knock him out his body goes limp and he reflexively ‘lets go’ of whatever surface he’s on. This would be particularly effective up high, where he could then promptly fall to his doom. Also, it has been proven that certain electric fields disrupt his biostatic field and remove his ability to cling to walls (Electro and Magneto should both be able to do this if they used the proper electromagnetic frequencies).
His ‘spider sense,’ while a valuable asset, does not tell him the exact nature of the situation. He doesn’t know what kind of danger he’s in, just that he is in danger. Hence, it is possible, though difficult, to trick his spider sense (In an issue or Marvel What If? The Punisher successfully killed Spider-Man by filled a lifelike Doctor Octopus statue with C4, and detonated it when Spidey got close; Spider-Man assumed his spider sense was warning him about the danger his old enemy posed, not of the massive amount of C4 about to explode). Also, the symbiotic suit known as Venom and the self-growing organic clone of Peter called Carnage are able to produce frequencies that activate Peter’s spider sense, making the sense completely useless in a fight against Venom or Carnage.
Also, like many super heroes, Peter cares. A lot. He can easily be swayed by villains who are threatening his loved ones. He has lost a lot of loved ones in his day and will do anything in his power to ensure their safety. Peter also, for the most part, pulls his punches when fighting. He doesn’t want to seriously hurt or kill any of his enemies (no matter how evil they are), and therefore rarely uses his full physical strength. This means that enemies at, above, or even slightly under his strength level start with an upper hand, because Peter won’t hit them with his full force unless he loses control or thinks that he absolutely must.
Due to his increased metabolism and energy output, Peter needs to eat a whole lot more than he used to. He is almost always hungry, and if he doesn’t get the sufficient amount of food he needs, his powers will wane considerably, and he’ll become a much easier combatant to face. Finally, when drugged, some of his powers, most notably his spider sense and ability to cling to walls, will suffer. With enough drugs in his system, Peter will become incapable of using either of those two abilities, greatly hindering his particular fighting style.
Weapons and Equipment:[/i] On his wrists Peter wears twin self-designed web shooters. These two devices are large bracelet like pieces of machinery that clip on to Peter’s wrists. A small strip of metal moves from the main appendage to rest on Peter’s palm; there is a small button on the tip of both metal strips. The devices hold web cartridges that are filled with a semi-solid substance that resembles a spider’s web. The substance is extremely adhesive, though it quickly loses its adhesiveness when exposed to air. Any part of the web that does not stick to something within a few seconds of being fired off will completely lose its adhesive quality. Each shooter is made up of ten small compartments to hold web cartridges, and immediately switch place when one compartment runs out of webbing (similar to a revolver). At the tip of the wrist of the devices is a mechanical spinneret that spins the fluid into thin strands of webbing and then propels them with great force in the direction Peter is aiming them. The web shooters can fire these webs 60 feet, even further if they are fired in an arc.
The web fluid, upon being fired, becomes a tough string of fiber that can be used for a variety of purposes. Most notably, Peter uses it to travel the city, attaching the webs to buildings, ledges, and other things to swing from at high speeds. He can also use the webs to blind his opponents by firing a small blast to their faces. The web shooters can fire webs off in ways that create wide sprays, creating instant spider webs to snag enemies. Peter often creates various helpful things with his webbing; pads to make landings less rough, parachutes to slow his descent through the sky, and shields to protect him from harm. The webs are very strong, and anyone under Peter’s strength level is generally unable to break them (though sharp objects can cut through the web). After being exposed to air for about two hours, the webbing will disintegrate into a fine powder.
Status: Canon (Mix of Movieverse and Ultimateverse)
Occupation: Web Master for the Daily Bugle; Masked Vigilante (current)/Member of Unlimited Class Wrestling (former)
Appearance: At 5’6”, Peter Parker isn’t exactly the tallest guy at his high school; far from it to be honest. In fact, when talking to other boys his age, Peter often finds his head tilted up just slightly so he can look them in the eyes. He’s not short by any means, but he’ll never grow up to be a six foot five, three hundred pound man. Before he was bit by that fateful spider, Peter was also extremely scrawny. However, over the course of a few days, his tiny frame quickly became the lithe and powerful musculature of a gymnast. His body is pretty much perfect, and honest to god has no fat stores at all; he’s pure muscle; however, no one really sees just how sculpted Peter is. Gwen Stacy once commented in surprise how hard Peter’s chest was. His brown hair is parted in the middle, and he keeps it like that by occasionally running his hands through his hair. It can get messy from time to time, but he usually manages to keep his hair in check without much effort. His eyes are also brown, and glow with the intensity you only see in a genius and the liveliness only achieved by a costumed super hero. He used to wear glasses almost 24/7, but, along with giving him super powers, the spider bite also fixed his eyesight, giving him perfect vision.
Peter’s wardrobe is rather varied. He doesn’t particularly have what one would call a fashion sense, but he gets by without any major clothing errors. Usually he can be found wearing jeans and t-shirts, like any normal kid. He’s a fan of wearing unbuttoned open collar shirts with another t-shirt on under it. Most often he wears sneakers, both for comfort and simplicity. When he’s at work, he wears a shirt and tie combo, with a nice pair of slacks and polished black shoes (gotta keep up a nice appearance at the office after all!).
The Spider-Man outfit is a sight to behold. It is a skin fitting full body suit, primarily red and blue in color. The red portions of the outfit cover the top of his back, his neck and inner chest and tapers down to his waist, which is surrounded by a red V design. His shoulders, and the outer portion of his arms, are also red in color, as are the gloves they attach to. His mask is also red, as are his boots. The rest of the outfit (legs, inner arms, and mid/lower back) is blue. The costume is made up of a spandex like material and covers Peter from head to toe. The boots and gloves are made of a thin material so that Peter can still stick to walls while wearing them. All along the red portion of his costume runs a black web design as well as a small, sharp looking black spider emblem on his chest. On his back is a wide, much less specific looking red spider. Peter’s mask has no mouth or nose hole, and covers his entire head; the eyes of the mask consist of twin one way mirrors with distinct off-oval shapes, surrounded by a larger black design. Finally, his gloves have small holes at the wrist which allow for webbing to be shot from his web shooters, which are concealed under the gloves.

Personality: Peter Parker was a timid, smart little book worm who loved school and had a grand total of two real friends. He spent most of his time studying and getting picked on by bullies; from whom he never defended himself. There was virtually no self esteem in his diminutive frame and he knew it as well as anyone else. He’s never had trouble in school and he absolutely loves to learn. However, this was the Peter Parker of old. Now he’s somewhat different. Though he’s changed drastically over the past six months, Peter still retains his amazing intelligence. He is a complete whiz at math and the sciences, and is particularly ingenious in biology and chemistry. School comes easy to the boy, and everyone knows it. There’s little doubt that Peter is the most brilliant student at Midtown High.
Ever since Peter became Spider-Man, his personality has become much more outgoing. He has begun to stand up for himself from time to time, and no longer takes as much crap from bullies like Flash Thomson. For a while he was actually somewhat popular for his amazing talent in basketball, but he gave up the sport and is once again viewed as a nerd. However, that doesn’t stop Peter from talking back to people he used to spend his days avoiding out of fear. His confidence in himself has skyrocketed to new levels, and it’s gotten a lot harder for people like Flash to put him down. He can still be quite from time to time, and he’s still very, very smart, but he’s not the pushover he used to be.
Peter has also developed into quite the caring person. He doesn’t like to see people hurting, whether it be physically or emotionally, and he’ll do anything he can to make life easier for everyone around him. This is why he’s such a great hero, he’s out there, not because he wants to be, but because people need help. It doesn’t matter whose life he’s saving, it could be that baby caught in a fire, that girl who just got thrown off a bridge, or that super villain whose under all that debris; if Peter is capable of saving the person, he’s going to do it. And if he fails, he’ll beat himself up endlessly about it. He has no trouble at all putting himself in mortal danger to save the live of another person.
Though he’s a good person, through and through, Peter can sometimes have a very bleak outlook on life. He can’t understand why so many people turn themselves into monsters and murder countless innocent people; and he despises that fact that a person with enough money can get away with pretty much anything. He’s faced Norman Osborn, Otto Octavius, and Wilson Fisk several times each, and finds it absolutely appalling that they keep managing to come back. They should all be locked away for the rest of their natural lives, and under no circumstances should they be allowed to walk about as ‘free men.’ When topics like the legal system are brought up, Peter can get very angry, because he has absolutely no faith in it, and believes the courts have more or less failed the American people. Murderers like Wilson Fisk should not be praised as philanthropists while Peter, who saves countless lives on a daily basis, is considered a menace to society.
That’s another thing that really gets on Peter’s nerves, his bad press. He’s constantly forced to look at headlines claiming that he’s a villain and proof of society’s decline. Sure he has his fans, people who look up to him and appreciate him, but for the most part, the world hates Spider-Man. Peter has to deal with people speaking bad about his alter ego right in front of him, because he can’t have a huge outburst without risking his secret identity.
Only once has Peter actually out and out told someone that he is Spider-Man, and he regrets that with all his heart now. While many super heroes strive to keep their identity secret, Peter works harder then any of them. Nevertheless, hard as he might work, people always seem to find out, and that terrifies him. Loved ones can’t know who he is, because it puts them in mortal danger, and enemies can’t know because then they’ll go after the people Peter cares for. There is a constantly growing list of people who know Peter’s identity; MJ, Nick Fury, Curt Connors, Gwen Stacy, Norman and Harry Osborn, Otto Octavius, Flint Marco, Kraven the Hunter, Max Dillon, etc… I think you get the picture.
Peter is constantly terrified that everyone who gets close to him will die. His parents went first, then Uncle Ben died (because of him), then Gwen (also his fault). He doesn’t want MJ or Aunt May to suffer the same fate, and therefore has begun pushing all his loved ones away. There’s nothing he would like more than to be open and honest with Aunt May and to be with MJ again, but if he does, he knows, deep down, that they’ll die. Maybe it’s paranoia, but the boy has suffered a profound amount of loss in his few years, and he doesn’t know if he can take losing anyone else.
Recently Peter has put his life as a civilian as a far off second priority to his life as Spider-Man. He skips out on class to go patrolling, and when he’s not forced to be someone, he can be seen swinging through the city in his costume. Little by little his life as Spider-Man is ruining his life as Peter Parker; Peter knows this, but he can’t stop himself anymore. All his problems with Mary Jane and his life in general completely disappear when he’s swinging around or fighting the next big super villain.
Sometimes, when pushed, Peter can get pretty angry. Usually he’s more or less a nice guy, but if someone decides to push his buttons too much, then he’ll explode. He’s snapped angrily at Aunt May, and before he died Uncle Ben, he can easily vent his frustrations by yelling angrily at Flash Thomson, and near the end of his relationship with MJ he spent a lot of time yelling at her. Against enemies, it’s much more serious when Peter gets enraged. Those are the times when he stops pulling his punches, and will begin simply beating the crap out of his enemies. Though he’s never killed anyone with his bare hands, he’s gotten close a few times, and that scares the hell out of him. It’s not that Peter’s a mean or angry person by disposition; it’s just that the extensive stress that comes with being Spider-Man can really take a toll on him. So sometimes he just can’t help but freak out.
Spider-Man is Peter’s defense mechanism. He naturally is a very witty, comical guy, but as Spider-Man it comes off much easily. There’s no single, probably even no two or three, super people who talk as much as Spider-Man does. When in battle he is always talking, always; there’s a combination of reasons for this. One, he knows his constant comedic commentary throws off, annoys and distracts his enemies; two, it’s fun; three, it’s a great way to prevent himself from soiling his costume. He comes off very thingyy and arrogant, and probably just a tad juvenile as well. In terms of super hero comedy and witty banter, Peter was the first, and by God he’s the best.
Perhaps Peter’s biggest personality trait can be summed up in his father’s philosophy, which he has adopted pretty heavily, “With great power there must also come great responsibility.” At first he was an idiot and used his powers for selfish reasons; that will never happen again. There’s a reason he got these powers, to help people. That’s why Peter continues to put on the mask day in and day out, even if he almost dies on a weekly basis, it’s his responsibility. Some might think that’s crazy, but his dad, whom he’s never even met, made that point; and in Peter’s eyes, it is that phrase that completely defines just what a hero is.
