X-23 took her time as she took in the spacious room while Logan spoke. She wasn’t used to staying in places like this. If she needed a place to stay, she’s get a room at a cheep motel. She had the money her mother earned at Weapon X, but she rarely used it, and when she did, she stayed cheap. She wouldn’t fit in a five star hotel.
But she hadn't been amazed to find out how much someone could make at Weapon X. She had seen big numbers before whenever someone bought her as an assassin.
She looked back at Logan when he mentioned a mission. He quickly told her that they don’t kill. He was wrong. She did get used to the blood. A sick twisted part of her enjoyed it, but she remained silent. She was inhuman, but she knew that.
She set her bag down at the side of the bed, but remained standing. She listened to Logan finish up, and looked at him when he asked her if she thought that the girls they passed were enemies.
“I don’t know them.” She answered him. She was being cautious, keeping her guard up.

He read the girl's expression and body language and knew she wasn't going to be comfortable here. He chuckled, "we are alike I hated the big rooms too at first, still do pretty much. That's why I was going to see about talking to the Professor about getting this little apartment. That's above the garage it's small, but if I was to get it we could try to share. I would sleep in the main room of course would give you the bedroom. If it doesn't work out or I can't get it we'll work something out."
He fell silent and looked like he understood her feelings. "As to the kids about here there mutants just like you. So please like I said before no claws. We know more fighting skills then anyone here. We can hold our on without them, but these kids are just like you mutants needing a home."

As he mentioned getting an apartment above the garage Laura hesitantly sat down on the edge of the bed. She folded her legs underneath her small from, and sat Native American style. “I don’t want to intrude.” She told him about the apartment, because she didn’t. She felt that he has done more then enough for her. He gave her a family and took her of the streets.
She absently rubbed her knuckles. Her fingers massaged the areas her claws extended from. She wasn’t sure if she could not use her claws, but she was willing to try. Again. “No claws.” She repeated after him, because she knew that she could take care of herself, she just didn’t know for how long she could control herself.

"It's no intrusion your family and I want you to be comfortable." He looked at how she was acting. "You know I didn't mean you couldn't use them ever again. I guess what I mean is don't kill anyone with them unless you have too. Around the school all you really need to do is show them and most of these folks will back down." He moved to her and set down pulling her gently into a hug.
"I know this won't be easy Laura, but your no longer alone. You might not trust these others, but if you give them a chance they will be like family too."

Out of habit, Laura tensed when Logan pulled her into a hug. Gentle touches were something she wasn’t used to, and it had caught her by surprise. After a moment however, she relax and welcome his embrace.
“I don’t know if I can,” She told him. She was created in a lab and trained to be a perfect assassin for most of her live. She couldn’t just move on and become… Normal.

Logan felt Laura's tension, but didn't let go. When he felt her relax he went on holding her as he spoke again. "It took me a long time too Laura just go slow and if there are any problems I'll be here. If I'm not I'll leave you with a cell phone and my cell number. So were never out of touch and if you need me I will come as soon as I can." He went quiet again just holding her and waited for her to talk again.

She listened silently to his words, and hesitantly set her head down on his shoulder. She couldn’t remember every being held, or having someone to truly rely on. She was a stranger in this world.
A sudden fear hit her. She has never been in a place with this many people while she was unstable. What if- -“What if I can’t control myself and I hurt someone?” She asked him, “Will I have to leave?”
As much as she disliked people due to her experience with them, she didn’t want to leave. She didn’t even want to hurt anyone anymore, but she doesn’t have the best of control at times. She didn’t want to leave, though, not when she has a chance to have a family.

"Well I can't promise anything that would be up to Professor Xavier and maybe the other teacher's, but I would be here to help." He thought about it and decided, "if you think that might happen I'll speak to Xavier tonight, on the apartment. It'll be safer if your mostly around me I can take your claws."

Laura lifted her head from his shoulder and looked at him. Her green eyes were emotionless, but she was unsure. 'I don’t know if it’ll happen. I never know when I’ll lose control.' She told him. Never knowing if she would lose control to the animal worried her, especially now with all of these people. She appeared to have been in better control at the labs, where she had no emotions. "I don't want to hurt anyone anymore."

"If your anything like me and I'm sure you are. You'll be able to control yourself if we fight each other. When ever you start to feel out of control just come looking for me." The hand that wasn't around her shoulders lay on her hand and rub the spaces between the joints where her claws came out. "It bothers you a little still doesn't it?"

She watched his fingers closely as they danced over the spacing between her knuckles, where her weapons lie hidden. Her forearm muscles tensed involuntarily as he ran his fingers over her flesh.
“It didn’t bother me before. I enjoyed it. I liked going out and killing all of those people.” Her voice trailed of for only a moment as she remembered just a few of her many assassinations. “But Stryker had left me during a mission, when we came back, he had Deathstryke. Dr. Kinney, my mother, she got tired of it, and we escaped.”
“But I killed her too…”

He pulled his hand away, but before he did he patted her hand. "If I understand there sick brainwashing ways, you liked the missions cause you got out into the real world for awhile, for a short while you got to smell freedom. It's the reason I love to go camping I go at least twice a month. I go up to Canada it's where I think the both of us were at different times." He stood back up and moved to the open window. Standing there he leaned out and sniffed at the air.
"I've got so used to this place I could find it even if I were blind. It's home now I hope to make it yours too Laura." He turned from the window to look down at her sitting there on the bed. "Your mother's death wasn't your fault Laura. If I know these people they had there ways of controling you, but now they have both of us to worry about."

She watched him let stand up and move to an open wind. As soon as a breeze entered, she inhaled the scents that the air current had carried into her room. She wasn’t familiar with most, if not all of the aromas that she inhaled, and knew belonged to people.
He may thing that her mother’s death wasn’t her fault, but she did. If she’d been able to control the beast beneath the surface, at least a little bit, then she might be still alive. She might still have a mother.
She looked at Logan when he remarked about Weapon X having to worry about the both of them. Did he mean--“Are we going to kill them?” She asked him. Despite herself, her hunter green eyes flashed momentarily at the thought. She could help herself. A part of her liked killing.

He didn't turn from the window, but he spoke as he continued to look out the window. "Were not going to go hunting for them. I've wasted years doing that, and there hard to find and it only puts you on there radar, but if they come here trying to take you. It'll be the last thing they ever do I'm not letting them get you again." He finally did turn though having heard in her voice the need to let off that killing need. "We have a place here where you can get out your need to kill."
He paused a moment checking the expression on her face when he said this the continued. "It's robots, but they can look like any human or mutant, you program into the computer. It's called the Danger Room, but if you wish living fighters we can go out. We just can't kill to much it'll raise to many questions."

Laura watched Logan closely from her seat on her bed. “They’re afraid of you.” She told him as she recalled the scents of fear she picked up whenever he was mentioned, but by their facial expression, you wouldn’t have been able to tell. You wouldn’t have been able to tell how much they feared him by the way they spoke.
Again her eyes flashed when he told her that they had a place where she could let herself loose. She didn’t have the best of control, and being able to be in a place when you loose, and let the beast take over, seemed great. She made a mental note to try the Danger Room out sometime. She knew exactly who she would program.
She eyed him when he mentioned living fighters. Didn’t he say that they don’t kill unless they have to? She mentally shrugged it of. Who cared? “Where?” She asked him.
